IKON ALUMINIUM SYSTEMS LAUNCHES NEW SLIMLINE LOUVRE WITH 50% PHYSICAL FREE AREA

New Slimline Louvre from ikon Aluminium

IKON Aluminium Systems (IKON) is proud to announce the launch of its IKL300 series, a revolution in louvre technology.  The new aluminium louvre system is designed for slimline applications requiring 50% physical free area.  It can be glazed into either a standard PVC-U window or a slim sightline aluminium window, door or any aperture that demands ventilation but doesn’t have the space for a larger depth product.

The IKL300 PFA50 has been engineered to meet the requirements of 50% physical free air flow without having to use a 50mm deep louvre.  It is a cost-effective alternative to the 50mm, being around 14% cheaper.

With a frame depth of just 36.2mm, the new louvre system is aesthetically pleasing and easy to install, ideal for restricted spaces and narrow window frames.  It can be glazed in 24mm, 28mm and 32mm, as standard.

As a specified product, the new louvre will suit residential, education facilities, healthcare, retail and local authority buildings plus car parks and data centres.

Balancing the aesthetics and durability of aluminium with performance, the blade centres are 30mm with a blade angle of 59 degrees.  The new energy efficient louvre achieves a visual free area of 58% and physical free area of 50%.  It has been tested in accordance with BS EN 13030:2002 (BSRIA Ltd).

The series comprises the IKL301 flange frame louvre; IKL302 glazed-in louvre; IKL303 rebate frame louvre and IKL304 face-fixed louvre.  Standard RAL or BS colours are available across the range.  Anodizing is a special order.  Additional features include insect mesh, bird mesh and single or double skin insulated blanking panels with or without plenum box.  A drainage channel is offered with the IKL301, 302 and 303.  The face-fixed louvre can be supplied with fixing lugs, if required.

IKON Aluminium Systems, managing director, John Park-Davies comments: “Traditionally, the larger the physical free area demanded, the bigger the blade required.  This has meant that architects, specifiers

and installers have had limited options and aesthetics have been compromised.  Our new system is a game-changer. It is both more economical to procure than a 50mm product and far more versatile for our clients. There are few, if any sub 50mm louvres in the marketplace that offer 50% physical free area which can provide such adaptable benefits to the built environment.  We are incredibly excited to introduce the IKL300 series to our customers and the industry.”
